Current Conditions

Tonight: This evening will be the calm before the chaos that arrives tomorrow. Clouds will begin moving in ahead of the incoming storm system, although we stay dry tonight. Overnight lows will be cold, but not nearly as cold as what we’ve seen previously this week. It’ll drop into the mids in the westside valleys of Southern Oregon and along the coast, where winds could gust up to 30 mph. Uppers will be in store for Siskiyou County and the Cascades, while it’ll dip near freezing in the Basin.

Tomorrow: The storm system officially arrives tomorrow morning. A rain band with moderate to heavy rainfall will arrive along the coast during the mid-morning. By the afternoon, it’ll work its way into the Rogue Valley, and it’ll eventually slide to the east of the Cascades by the late evening. Our last couple of storm systems have been rather modest when it comes to rainfall totals, but this rainfall chance looks a little beefier. Between – ” are possible along the Cascades and coastal ranges, while up to an inch is possible along the coast proper. Between – ” are possible in the westside valleys, with less than ” in the Basin. It’s that time of year where the chance for rain will also mean snow chances for higher elevations. Snow levels will drop down to 4,’ on Sunday night, and accumulations look much more impressive than they did last week. The peaks of the Cascades could receive between ” of snow, while elevations around 4,,’ will probably see accumulations between ”. Tomorrow, as you would expect with an incoming storm system, will be much cooler. Highs in our westside valleys will be in the mids, while they’ll be in the uppers to lows on the eastside. The coast will struggle to make it out of the 50s. An important sidenote about tomorrow’s system is that winds will be very blustery, especially in the Shasta Valley and on the eastside.

A WIND ADVISORY has been issued for eastern Klamath and Lake Counties from 11 AM to 9 PM Sunday. A WIND ADVISORY has also been issued for central-Siskiyou County on Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Southwest winds will be sustained between 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible. These gusty winds could blow down or damage drought-stressed trees or burn scar trees.

Extended:  Clouds and some rain and snow showers will linger on Monday with very cool and below average temperatures. Tuesday will be dry and milder. More storm systems are arriving as we head into the middle and end of next week, and rain chances and potential accumulations are looking pretty robust. There’s plenty of time for us to adjust our thinking on these systems, so we’ll closely monitor this situation throughout the week.

Tonight: The clear and warm day will give way to a clear and mild evening. Temperatures for inland areas this evening will stay solidly in the 50s and 60s through the 8 P.M. hour, meaning this will be a near picture perfect evening for a barbecue or Wednesday evening walk. Overnight low temperatures will also stay more mild than recently, falling into the mid to upper 30s in our westside valleys with mid to upper 20s east of the Cascades. The coast will see temperatures staying in the 40s through the overnight hours.
Extended: Beyond Wednesday, we'll see a very gradual and slow cooling trend through the rest of the workweek, but temperatures will remain above average. Easter Weekend will start off dry, but clouds will increase and by Easter Sunday, we could be looking at some chances for rain for at least parts of our region. We'll be keeping a close eye on this system and your holiday weekend forecast. It's possible wet weather could continue into next week with cooler temperatures
