not just bonded acrylic, just about any type of synthetic plastic style material you could want. again depends on the store of course, but with that said when carbon fiber was all the rage i could ride 5 minutes from my house and get all the supplies i needed from tap plastics. boat repairs? yep they got that covered as well.
science experiments for my wife's 4th grade class room using a foaming 2 part epoxy material that became rock hard in minutes? sure no problem.

I worked in the aquarium industry for years and got to know the various people at the various stores after awhile.

best bargain in the store though is the cut bin in the back in the p hill store. I bought 3 ft by 2 ft transparent white thick acrylic for about 2 bucks a sheet of the stuff when i was building a light table.
have always bought the clear acrylic for my cutting tables in my garage for about the same price.

Fun!

It was a great and good management. Loved the creativity ANd the people. Got really great at working on the table saw and the bansaw and the router alike.

Retail Sales Associate in Portland, OR

Only as good as the worst of the customers

The pay isn't very competitive compared to other places offering similar work in the area. Not really any advancement opportunities if you start as a sales person. Mostly customer service, but you can work in the back as much or as little as you like. I liked it just fine before the Covid 19 pandemic, but the way corporate and management are handling things now is ridiculous. It's very clear they don't care about their employees, only the bottom line.

Creative freedom

Absolutely loved working at TAP Plastics, my supervisors were great and we're given freedom on how to best perform and complete our projects. Work-life balance was even better, I was able to come and go as I pleased as long as my projects were completed, I was usually always a week or two ahead anyway.

Invest your future in a better company

The job is easy pretty easy and fun but I wouldn't recommend working here. I worked here for over 2 years as a part-time employee. When I started the position started with 32 hours and has steeped off to less than. So forget being able to pay for those benefits unless you have a second job. I tried to negotiate a consistent schedule with the manager so I could do this and was not given this accomodation. As far as the manager goes, She did a lot of things that were far from transparent with customers. She would say sometimes that "the guys in the back will charge this and that." We were all paid hourly and not paid for how many jobs we did. I could say more but this place has fallen behind in some areas. You can't survive on this wage, with dwindling hours, and hope to be able to feed yourself well without a second job. There were no foreseeable career advancement opportunities within the company. To all looking at this place for employment, you could easily find a better company to invest your future in.

Sales Associate in Santa Rosa, CA

Fun but demanding workplace

It is a great place to work but requires a lot of training and product study. Employees need to know about all the products and how to use them to help customers better. After the training is finished the employee has a vast amount of knowledge concerning the products and their uses.

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Tap Plastics a better place to work?

May 27, 2020

I would increase focus on custom fabrications rather than hobby products and update the tools and technology the team has available to use. The ability to do laser cutting, cnc, or more advanced heat bending/molding on site would be invaluable.
