Hello Paul,

We understand that you're experiencing an issue after tweaking a video output setting that has now caused a lack of visuals on the television screen.

Our suggestion for this as follows:

Reset your display settings. Here's how:

  1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
  2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button  for five seconds to turn off the console.
  3. Press and hold the Xbox button  and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to System > Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options, and then TV Resolution.

  4. If you are required to complete these steps on every boot-up, you will want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 in the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup." For more information, see How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console.

This step can be found on our troubleshoot a blank screen support article.

Try this and let us know if this works.

Best wishes!

The display troubleshooter appears during Xbox console setup

This page describes how to use the display troubleshooter, and why it may appear during the setup of your console. If you're looking for help with other display issues, see:

How to change the display resolution for your TV on Xbox

The display troubleshooter can appear if:
  • The HDMI cable is faulty. Inspect the HDMI cable for damage. Also verify that the cable is plugged in and seated properly.
  • There's a device between your console and your TV. Plug the HDMI cable directly into your TV. If this fixes the issue, you can configure your video settings later.
  • Your console can't determine the resolution of your TV. The Xbox One X and Xbox One S consoles send digital audio and video signals to your TV through the HDMI cable, and your TV sends signals back in constant two-way communication. One message the TV sends is extended display identification data (EDID), which the console reads and then sends the picture at the best resolution for the TV.
  • Your console displays 480p if it does not receive an EDID from your TV. This is the lowest resolution possible for the Xbox One series. However, the console was not designed to display at low resolutions. In this situation, the display troubleshooter appears.

Using the display troubleshooter

  1. Check the current resolution setting on your TV.
  2. Set the resolution to 1080p if your TV supports this resolution. If your TV only supports 720p or 1080i, set your TV to 720p. Then, on your console, select the matching resolution on the Change your display screen.
  3. If your resolution is set to Auto Detect, select 1080p from the Change your display screen on your console.

If the screen changes to full size, you've selected the right resolution. To keep this setting, select Keep display at (resolution). This option closes the display troubleshooter and returns you to the setup process.

Things to keep in mind:
  • It's possible that your console thinks your TV is receiving a DVI connection instead of an HDMI connection. You won't have sound if your console is in DVI mode, so if you have a Kinect, you won't be able to calibrate its microphones during setup. When you reach the Home screen for the first time, you can adjust the display settings and calibrate your Kinect.
  • The Kinect sensor and Kinect Adapter have been discontinued. You can still use your Kinect with your Xbox 360 or Xbox One, but the sensor is not compatible with Xbox Series X|S consoles.

To change the display settings on the Home screen to re-enable HDMI:

  1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
  2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output > Set up TV & A/V control.
  3. In the first column, select HDMI.
  4. Make sure the second column shows Refresh rate:auto-detect.

After you adjust the sound settings, you can set up your Kinect sensor. For more info, see:

Note If you've done this on an Xbox One X or Xbox One S with an older TV, but you later switch to a 4K TV, make sure to switch TV connection back to Auto-detect. 4K isn't available when it's set to HDMI.

If you've changed your TV resolution and your screen turns black or doesn't look correct:

  1. Wait 10 seconds and the screen will return to the 480p setting. Select Try a different resolution.
  2. You'll return to the Change your display screen. There, you can try the remaining resolution option.
  3. If neither 720p nor 1080p work with your TV, select None of these work.

At this point, you can continue with setup using the 480p resolution, though it's not optimal, or you can select a different TV to connect to your Xbox.

How to Connect a PS4 Slim to a DVI Monitor \u0026 Soundbar

Sofus Pedersen :

It only has one DVI port and yes, it does have an auto adjustment button, but when i press it while it's in the Xbox nothing happens and when i press it while it's in my PC it just says not available.

Auto Adjustment is only for VGA port (because of sync of H and V position).

Well you can try always another cable DVI-I dual link

Like this one because it has all connections https://www.ebay.com/itm/DVI-I-Dual-Link-24-5pin-Male-to-HDMI-Standard-Female-Adapter-fr-HDTV-DVD-Black/272778989100?epid=562000406&hash=item3f82e50e2c:g:ckMAAOSwnDZUALou

It may be because its missing some? Not sure, did you try HDMI to DVI from PC/Laptop to make sure its not cable's fault or not supported by monitor because in manual stands for DVI-D,
Can you take high quality picture and upload it soo i can see, if its not problem because as i said, i don't trust manuals too much (back of the Monitor/TV).
