Now this is real ice cream! And real American hospitality! If you recoil at having to do business with mask nazis at Tasty Waves in New Milford, look no further than Rich Farm. We bought pints after devouring our overstuffed cone, and I'm tapping as my wife picks up some sugar cones. Fabulous!
I come here quite frequently but four stars only for last night. I ordered a large with half chocolate peanut butter and half Cookie Monster. The employee repeated my flavor choices and went to make it. Went home to eat it and realized that I only got chocolate peanut butter. I ended up only eating half because it was to much for me to eat all chocolate peanut butter. I would suggest maybe having the employees writing flavors on the cups so this doesn't happen again.
Besides this, their ice cream has always been delicious!
Large chocolate peanut butter swirl
All I can say is WOW! Friendly staff. Big servings. Excellent flavors to choose from.
Peaches and cream and razzmatazz
The iceman was amazing. I got one with caramel and brownie chunks. Like Ben and Jerry's but homemade and even better.
What can I say? Life's the pits lately. But Rich's German chocolate cake ice cream sure cheered me up. During the pademic, they come out to take your order from your car and deliver it to you. Very friendly, tip well. Can't wait to get that flavor ice cream again!
I ordered a birthday cake and there was a mix up but Mark the manager was such a professional and is the nicest person. He offered to make a new cake within a few hours. I will always come back here for the great service.
Birthday cake with vanilla and chocolate.
After a long day at the Elephant Trunk flea market in Danbury Connecticut, we were exhausted! We searched for a refreshing ice cream shop and we found Rich Farm Ice Cream. The store itself was spacious, clean with many tables and seats. My wife and I got the large size (2 scoops each). I chose Chocolate German Brownie and Rum Raisin, while my wife got peaches and cream and the toasted almond. My wife's ice cream was refreshing, not too sweet and delicious! My ice cream was rich and not too sweet as well. My son got the Italian mango ice and it was smooth, soft and flavorful. We really enjoyed our order and the portion is stupendous. They also make all their own ice cream. The staff were very nice and the prices were very reasonable. Overall it is a fantastic place and everyone should come.
Large size - chocolate German brownie and rum raisin
Left large size - peaches and cream with toasted almond) Right kiddy size - mango ice

Kevin, thank you for the pictures and awesome feedback on your family's first visit with us! We are happy to read that you love our house made ice cream, and we welcome you back the next time you are in town.
Solid ice cream place and brookfield location has done a great job of taking constructive criticism and truly enhancing this ultra dairy delicacy experience! Great creamy ice cream, one of the best sturdiest flavorful waffle cones and an array of flavors scooped by the nicest staff. Always a delight to go here and very worth the lactaid overdosing!!
This is truly the best ice cream that I've ever had (and I live in NYC).
On top of having the best ice cream, the staff is so nice and professional.
What makes it the best ice cream- fresh ingredients, very well balanced flavors (not too sweet etc), they use real fruit, they clearly make this fresh and have daily specials. Lastly, the texture of the ice cream is perfect. Some ice creams are so dense and hard but this is creamy and airy.
Visiting Candlewood lake and had a craving for some good ice cream. I found this place on yelp and we went. So many good flavors to choose from. I saw them making fresh waffle cones on the spot, smelled so good. I ordered 1 scoop german chocolate brownie and 1/2 a scoop of caramel swirl with a side of peanut butter sauce. So good! My boyfriend ordered German chocolate brownie with banana and side of chocolate peanut butter sauce. Both on waffle cones. So good! Highly recommend.
Rich Farm Ice Cream set to open at Brookfield Village
The wait is almost over for Mark DePaolis and Rich Farm Ice Cream.
DePaolis was one of the first tenants to sign on at Brookfield Village, a mixed-use development on Federal Road at the Four Corners area of Brookfield. He waited patiently and marveled at the progress as the old buildings came down and new ones went up.
DePaolis will open his ice cream shop on Monday as Phase I of Brookfield Village is nearly complete. While most of the residential units are already occupied, Rich Farm will be the second retail tenant to open. Subway opened earlier this month.
“I love the location. I just had to wait until it was ready,” he said. “I love what they are doing with this area and their long-term plans. It will be a destination for this area.”
The Brookfield shop will be the first Rich Farm Ice Cream franchise to open in Connecticut. Dave and Dawn Rich opened the original Rich Farm Ice Cream in Oxford on July 3, 1994, and the business has become an institution, drawing customers from miles around.
Another location opened in Placentia, Calif., two years ago and it was named that city’s New Business of the Year for 2016.
Dave Rich said he does not have a number in mind for how many franchises he would like to open, but said he is more interested in having stores out of state. He may allow for one more in Connecticut, he said, but not near Oxford or Brookfield.
The farm in Oxford has been named a Dairy Farm of Distinction for “beauty and high milk quality” from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.
Rich said he plans to attend Monday’s opening of Rich Farm Ice Cream in Brookfield. “We’re excited for him (DePaolis),” he said. “It seems like there’s a lot of interest in it. He’ll do well.”
DePaolis got his final inspections this week and is eagerly anticipating Monday’s opening. DePaolis worked in corporate America for 16 years before his position was eliminated. He wanted to get out of that world and he and his wife Lisa sought out other opportunities.
“We narrowed it down and decided on this. This was everything we wanted,” the Newtown resident said. “I’ve had Rich Farm ice cream and I know the quality is off the charts. People know the name Rich Farm, so that’s a good start.”
Rich Farm specializes in homemade hard ice cream with nearly 100 flavors, including 30 standard varieties and dozens of seasonal and rotating flavors. DePaolis said all of the ice cream will be made on site in Brookfield, not transported from Oxford. He said the shop will eventually offer soft serve, frozen yogurt, Italian ice and cakes.
“This place is really about the hard ice cream,” he said. “We spend a little more and give customers a product they want to come back for.”
The flavors of the day will be displayed on a chalkboard behind the counter. The store will have seating for about 20 people with room to add more tables and chairs if necessary, DePaolis said.
“There are no TVs. I want it to feel like you’re going back in time,” he said. “Our job is to make people happy.”
DePaolis hired 11 part-time employees to get the business running. Rich Farm Ice Cream will be open from noon to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
In addition to Subway and Rich Farm Ice Cream, Brookfield Village will also include an Italian restaurant, nail salon and clothing boutique. Phase II will include a patio and courtyard, in addition to two more buildings with residential and retail space.
“The town is thrilled to have the first Rich Farm franchise in Connecticut,” Betsy Paynter, economic and community development manager for Brookfield, said. “It’s a great enhancement to the area. It will be a nice complement for people walking along the trail and be an attraction for Town Center.”
